April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her musical journey in the 7th grade in which she began piano and guitar classes. In the seventh grade she began to take guitar and piano classes. The lessons sparked her passion in writing songs. At the age of 14, April spent a lot of time in writing song ideas and practicing the music she was playing. The songwriting began alongside her father at home in NY and LA within a short time. April was also able to add other themes in the tune "Take My Hand" to help her acquaintances who faced problems like peer pressure, issues, or even teenage suicide. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry who has a growing fan base. She works with popular brand Ilia in partnership, in addition to being an expert in the field of lifestyle. It's true that she was born with no left hand, and it is what makes her different. However, this isn't the only characteristic of her. As a result Lockhart's Instagram profile does not shy away from her handicap, however the focus isn't on it neither. The profile is a statement. There is more to us than the physical person we are. Our identities are multifaceted and we contain many different elements. Lockhart is interviewed via video in Nashville. "I don't want it to define my personal life. I'm not looking to be merely recognized as an expert in disabilities. The fact that she is a disability influencer doesn't impact my everyday life. All is well and I've learned how to adjust. However, I also consider it to be a vital component of my life. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken will be one that lasts an entire lifetime. She has been a source of inspiration in this regard. She has gone through phases where she was uncomfortable the way she dressed and showed her arms. Now, though she dons anything she likes and uploads pictures of herself in these outfits on social media, she is proud of herself. The key to self-love for her is that it's not an end goal. That's true of everyone regardless of their insecurity. It's important to be surrounded by individuals who truly see you.
